Going to Grandma and Grandpa's
Gracie and I went to finish getting her passport Friday since she will be going to Grandma and Grandpa Ski's next month! We will be leaving Tuesday February 17 and arriving on the 18th in Manchester, England and staying in Derby. Fortunately, we will be getting to stay for about a month. Grace and I are too excited!! For all my mothers out there, any ideas on how to travel with a baby, especially internationally? I've read several sites and have gotten some great information, but more is always appreciated.

Inauguration Tuesday
On the day of the election she said "dada" for the first time (only after saying "mama" the day before) and now she has crawled on the day of the inauguration. Grace and I watched it today, seeing as it was the only thing on television for 12 hours. Grace needed a nap and of course fell asleep during Obama's speech. She tried to stay awake but I guess its not as interesting to a 7 month old as it is to others:) No matter what your politics, I hope the president does something soon so maybe she'll start walking!!
Her two teeth at the bottom have emerged but pictures are still hard to get as they've both just broken the surface- it kinda looks like an AT&T cell phone commercial- one just above the other.

Arise, Arise!!
She has pulled herslef into a stand. Last night she used the drop down side of the crib to pull herself up. Gracie tried it several times and got so excited she threw up shortly after this photo. Needless to say, I was up until late washing bed clothes. Garden vegetables is not appealing on clothing or sheets:) There is also a second tooth emerging next to the first- hope to get a picture of those two soon. She is having some trouble sleeping in the crib so she spent the night with me in the big bed while I watched awesome Masterpiece Theatre. Of course, she hardly whimpered the whole night. Ahh, she must be lulled to sleep by the sound of her dad's family!!

She's trying to move!
Grace has gotten down the whole "moving backwards" but forwards is proving a little more difficult. I have been trying to entice her with toys, food, and dancing but nothing has worked yet. She just gets rocking back and forth, laughs at me, and proceeds to lay down on her tummy.
We did go to the library for the first time today. I was looking for baby sign language or baby can read (have you seen the infomercials?) dvds but no luck. However, when I went to the computer to look up where the material might be, the list of recommended books on the side of the page was headlined with The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel by David Wroblewski..... to my dismay, it had already been checked out, but I was like whoa:)
I've also included my favorite Christmas photo of her- she's in the outfit Poppa T bought her on Christmas Eve.

Introduction
In order to keep up with Darby Grace for her family at home and abroad, I've started a blog in her honor. I have been following my friend Janie's blog about her daughter Eliza and have now decided it is an awesome idea! Gracie just turned 7 months old on New Years and today she sat up on her own for the first time (got on all fours and rocked until she sat on her legs). I also felt the sharp nub of a tooth this morning. So finally, after five months of drool we have success! This picture was taken about two weeks ago, I think she was starting to feel it :)
