Best of the best this year..

This week has been big for the Wroblewski family. Grace and I have officially been residents of the UK for a year! We have lived in three different cities (Derby, Aberdeen, Elgin), visited two of the four capitals of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (Edinburgh and London), and have seen things that light up our lives.

My favorite moment thus far between us two gals has been going to London for the Royal Wedding in April last year. She was beyond good, she was great. Grace never once acted like a typical 3 year old. She even held my hand without question and when I asked why she wouldn't let go she simply said "because there's peoples and I don't want to lose you." We stayed in London for three days and had the time of our lives. We saw the city from the London Eye, traveled around parks, played in the Underground, ordered room service, and watched the most beautiful wedding on a huge screen in Green Park. All memories that one day I will share with her. Maybe the next royal wedding she may understand why waiting for three hours to see a dress is so important:)

Scotland, here we come.... eventually

In the past month we have traveled to the far north in search of a job (check) and a place to call home (uncheck). On our first trip, we were blessed that Aaron got a job with G.E. Oil & Gas in Aberdeen and will start work on July4. Unfortunately, on our travels last week we weren't able to find a suitable home, so Grace and I will be staying in Derby a little bit longer. Therefore, the dream of living as a family is closer to being a reality, just not yet.

Also, Grace had her Meningitis C vaccine today. I thought she was up-to-date on all her shots, which she is- in America. The British NHS vaccinate for MenC in three steps (since Grace is older, it was only one shot) against the disease. Since one of the side effects is getting Guillian-Barre Syndrome, I did my research first. The benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the odds of her getting GBS again so she got the shot and so far no side effects.

Aaron is also having a great day- he bought a car. 2008 Ford Focus will be waiting for him on Wednesday and the man is overjoyed:) I am so happy for him, he really deserves a car after being without one for so long in Saudi.

Happy Days!

Adjusting to Britain

We have been here a little over a week now and I can honestly say its been awesome. Apparently, the Kentucky weather followed us and Grace was able to go to the park several times. Grace and I have also been able to ride the bus into town a couple times to see Grandma at work.

It has been a bit of a struggle though. Grace asks to go home a few times and wants to play with her friends in the States. She acts out at least once a day, but that may also be because she is 2.5 years old:) She finally got her appetite back and has picked her favorite food as mashed potatoes with peas mixed in. Since Aaron has to return to Saudi in a couple days, they have been spending lots of time together. It really warms my heart to see them doing the things (like bike riding and painting nails) that are so ideal for father/daughter relationships. It also doesn't hurt that they currently have the same favorite movie- Cars:)

We are excited to be here and in the coming week will be looking for a nursery/daycare and applying for our national health.. sounds like fun!!

Wroblewski's First American Christmas

In celebration of our first Christmas together in the states, we decided to have family photos taken. Our wonderful photographer put them all on a DVD so we could upload it to our family and friends throughout the world.

Grace looked so adorable and was well behaved. After the photographer tried to tickle her with a stuffed frog, she made an awful frown so he threw it at her. She loved it! Some of the photos were taken because she wanted the stuffed frog back. The ones with snow are my favorite. Don't we do have the cutest family! :)

Happy Holidays! Aaron, Britteny, and Grace xxx

Fall 2010

Grace has been growing and growing.. she speaks in full sentences and her current favorite saying is “not funny”.  For Halloween she was a fairy and Buzz Lightyear, since her favorite movies are Toy Story 2 and 3.  She also likes Happy Feet, and loves penguins.  Her hair is curly as can be, and she will tell you when her “hair hurts” Smile100_0211100_07081030101656c1031101713a

She’s 2!

Sure enough, Grace turned two at the beginning of the month.  She acts like she is twenty though :)  Her vocabulary increases everyday, and she now speaks mostly in full sentences.  Today she said “Where did he go?” regarding her cousin Daniel.  He turns five tomorrow and we will be celebrating at Noble Park’s pool, so get ready for the “wah der”.

Here are some photos from her grandparents visit earlier this month.

Easter party at daycare

HPIM2031 HPIM2026

Grace loved playing outside after their Easter egg hunt.  Sitting with her on the “bus” are her best friends Laylay and Destini. According to their teachers, these three are the mother hens of the class- love to wipe other kids noses and check diapers for any messes:)

Been awhile

I have recently realized that I have been seriously lacking on updating Grace's blog. My apologies, we have had a busy few months. Between visiting England and making wedding plans, my duties have slacked just a bit.

We had an AWESOME time in England and we really, really, really want to go back. Grace would now have a dog to play with and boy does she love her animals. She definitely gets that from her dad :) At home, we have a beagle mix "Molly" that absolutely adores Grace. Every morning before we head off to daycare, Grace yells for "Malll eeee" to come. Sure enough, she shows up to walk Grace to the car. Also since the weather has started to become nicer, Grace will try to run around with her and she gets mad when Molly takes off ahead. Those two are a sight:)

We ordered Grace's flower girl dress last week. I told the lady at the store she would be a 3T. Then she said we better take measurements when I mentioned Grace had a bit of a 'Buddha Belly'. Grace didn't really care too much for her measurements to be taken. Anyways, I am including some photos of the dresses she tried on. Of course she looked adorable in them all, but we actually settled on one that she didn't try on so Aaron will still be surprised:)

Countdown to England: 2 days

(yea, she is a lefty)

It's only 2 days now until we leave for Manchester. I think we are finally packed and ready to go. There are quite a few errands to run tomorrow but otherwise, Grace and I are ready to see daddy, Grandma and Grandpa Ski, and the rest of the English friend and family.

Because we won't be here for the holidays, the Thomas family celebrated Grace's Christmas on Thanksgiving. She got clothes, a diaper bag, books, and toys. Grace would tear off the paper, then keep tearing pieces off the torn piece instead of the present :) Also, my sister and brother each got new puppies and Grace was beside herself with joy.

It's Fall!!

Grace is trying to figure out the leaves- likes the crunchy but thinks she needs to give all of them to me :)

Happy Halloween!

Grace had a great time this Halloween- we went the First Baptist Church Fall Festival and Trick-or-Treated at Heritage Manor. We also had her Halloween Parade at daycare. She was too cute as a flower garden gnome- gently inspired by Grandma Ski's love of gardening :) We now have lots of candy that she can't possibly eat so Mommy gets to enjoy!

All aboard!

Singing to her own music

After her bath- she refused to wear clothes for a good half hour.

Grace and I are coming to England for the holidays! Leaving after Thanksgiving (on Dec 1, arriving Dec 2 in Manchester) to spend weeks (until Jan 19) of fun with family and friends. For those who know me, I have already begun to pack and repack lol. Can't wait!

Besides that, everything is kinda slow around here. Grace is loving daycare although she has gotten bitten a few times. Her teachers tell me that Grace will take a toy from someone and then the other toddler will bite Grace to get it back. Other than that, daycare has been great- she is walking better and her speech has improved to more words like "What's that?" and "Buh-bye". She likes to wave to everyone and dances to the radio all the time. Such an amazing change from only a few months ago.

We are now waiting for Halloween to arrive next week so Grace can wear the Garden Gnome costume-its too cute. They are having a show at daycare on Friday and then we will be at Aunt Kim's Saturday to help pass out treats and get some of our own. (Photos will follow)

Returning to Daycare

Labor day party at Granny's- love her face!

Giving kisses from the chair, won't get up for no one :)

Enjoying ketchup for the first time :)

Well this is the last week of staying at home with mommy, Grace will be returning to day care next week. I hate to see her go, but have realized that socializing with kids her age will be a great benefit to her walking and speech skills. Today she even walked with help on a balance beam during physical therapy! I am so proud of her- truly amazing things she is doing every day.

Grace WALKS!!

Grace walked for the first time! This Wednesday while Miss Debbie was cleaning, she put Grace's toys on the coffee table in order to vaccuum. Grace had the other rings so she decided to put them on the stacker. She got off the step her and I were sitting on and crawled a bit before lifting up and taking FOUR steps! I was lucky enough she did it again and caught it on video. That's me being loud and talking in the background to Miss Debbie lol. It was awesome!
